Making sympathy cards is so hard for me. I really try for very simple and clean.
Sandy Allnock made it (relatively) easy for me. She had a post earlier this week called Painting Perfect Trees. She’s an amazing talent. I didn’t have the stamp sets she used, so I used the beautiful Stampin’ Up Sheltering Tree set. The background strip is made from a water color panel with masking tape to create the center strip and very light sponging of two distress inks. For the trees, I used three colors of distress ink, sprayed VERY lightly with water and stamped over my center strip, then took my water pen and just “dabbed.” This was pretty much my first attempt and I think it came out beautifully. I think this technique is lovely for a very simple sympathy card.
